Rabies in Cetireni and Hristoforovca (Ungheni): sale of animals banned for 30 days after the last case

The veterinary service has confirmed cases of rabies in the village of Cetireni and in the village of Hristoforovca in Pîrlița commune, and on 22 October the district crisis-management commission approved a plan of 16 measures: a census and immunisation of animals within five days, a halt to the movement of animals and a ban on collecting and selling animals in the village for 30 days after the last case. It is the fifth outbreak plan approved in the district since the end of July, after Rezina, Măgurele, Costuleni and Sculeni; the commission's decisions now name six localities with confirmed rabies in three months. For the whole of 2025, ANSP reported four cases in animals in the district. After any bite, go to a doctor immediately; rabies vaccination is free.

Third rabies outbreak in Ungheni district in two weeks: restrictions in Costuleni

A case of rabies has been confirmed in the village of Costuleni, Ungheni district — the third outbreak in the district after Rezina and Măgurele, in less than two weeks. Decision No. 1/E of 11 August, the first of the newly established crisis-management commission, approved a plan of 14 anti-epizootic measures: a census of animals within five days, a halt to the movement of animals in the village for 30 days, emergency vaccination and stepped-up hunting of foxes and jackals. The restrictions lift 30 days after the last case. Rabies vaccination of dogs and cats remains compulsory across the district, and any bite means a trip to the doctor the same day — the prophylaxis is free.
